"The (Almost) Totally True Story of Hansel and Gretel"

LCHS Drama Director, Kayla Stafford, along with Junior Drama Department Member, Cayley Potter, worked tirelessly with an amazing group of young people from around the Lewis County area to produce a children’s play, “The (Almost) Totally True Story of Hansel and Gretel.” Stafford and Potter are life-long companions and share a love for the stage that they cannot help but spread throughout the community. They began the Lewis County Children’s Choir in September, 2013 with 1 child! By November, their choir had grown to 9 kids, and presently, there are 22 children singing harmoniously together every week! The children performed their very first solo gig at LCHS Auditorium on April 11, 2014!

“The (Almost) Totally True Story of Hansel and Gretel,” starring Kelcie Callahan, Hunter Collins, Sydney O’Keefe and Jenna Wallingford, along with the rest of the Children’s Choir, was performed for Donation Only on Thursday, April 10th and Friday, April 11th for the community and Elementary schools in Lewis County, KY.

“The (Almost) Totally True Story of Hansel and Gretel,” was truly a community event! Not only are the directors and actors volunteers, high school students have worked together to create the set, props, and costumes. Savannah Foxx and Elizabeth Massie spearheaded the art work, creating backdrops, candy, and a beautiful enchanted forest. Carson Rickett, LCHS Drama Department Stage Director, has created numerous costumes and Colton Carrington, LCHS Drama Department Sound and Lighting Director, has worked closely with Stafford to plan a variety of sound and lighting effects. Altogether, over 50 Lewis County students were involved in this production! Never before have so many students, from various ages and parts of the county, worked together to produce a FREE community event!
