Yard Sale Paves the Way for “The Parent Trap”

By: Amber Applegate

The Lewis County High School Drama Department held a Yard and Bake sale Saturday, September 7th in the Lewis County High School auditorium. Students and faculty have been donating miscellaneous items since the beginning of school to prepare for the all day event. Moreover, students and their friends and family members baked a number of delightful goodies including Pecan, Blackberry, and Apple pies, cookies, and cakes to sell. They sold raffles for a $100 Foodland Gift Card and beautiful, quilted table runner made by Karen Stafford. Raffles are still being sold by the department and winners will be announced at the November 16th performance of “The Parent Trap.” At the Yard and Bake Sale, the drama department sold oodles of merchandise and baked goods and had over 200 patrons at the sale! The Drama Department raised over $2000 to support the upcoming year of performances. A very special thanks to Jeff and Michelle McCane, Daneyl Carrington, Andrea Bloomfield, Andrea Scott, Melissa Dyer, Jennie Enix, Karen Stafford and Sandy Stafford for being a great help to the department at the Yard and Bake Sale. The Drama Department also thanks their supportive community for their continued patronage and support!

After the success of the Yard and Bake Sale, the drama department immediately began work on their upcoming fall play, “The Parent Trap.” Elizabeth Massie and Grace Bloomfield star as twin sisters that were separated before their second year of life. One is raised by their lovely mother, Margaret (Alexis Enix) and the other by their wealthy, ranch- owning father, Mitchell (Kaleb McCane). After meeting at Camp Inch, the twins plan a trap for their parents to bring them back together again. However, Mitch’s new love for a younger woman (Kami Bentley) poses a great amount of problems for the two scheming sisters. Miss Kayla Stafford, Director of the Drama Department, is in search of a children’s choir for “The Parent Trap.” Any student in the Lewis County school district, between the ages of 6-14, can audition to be a part of the choir. Auditions will be held on October 7th at 6pm in the Lewis County High School Auditorium. The children will be expected to sing together with members of the drama department and participate in the November 14-16 performances of “The Parent Trap.” For more information about the Children’s Choir, email Miss Stafford (Kayla.stafford@lewis.kyschools.us).
